About
About GivingTuesday and QuebecGives
GivingTuesday is a movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity around the world. It was first created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. GivingTuesday is now a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. In Canada, GivingTuesday was started by a group of organizations and now includes over 7,500 partners.
In the province of Québec, the GivingTuesday movement has been active since 2018, first as a pilot project in Montreal. In 2020, the volunteer-led civic group became province-wide and was renamed QuebecGives in English and Ici on donne in French. In 2021, QuebecGives had more than 160 organizations participating.
Our Mission
QuebecGives rallies individuals, charities, schools, businesses, and local governments to support and raise funds for local community organizations to help grow the GivingTuesday movement throughout Quebec. We do so through the following initiatives:
- Raise awareness about the movement and attract new participants in Quebec through calls to actions and inspiring storytelling
- Inform new participants by creating and sharing resources and relevant information about GivingTuesday
- Engage the broader community and generate conversations about civic engagement
Our Approach
QuebecGives harnesses the potential of digital media and word of mouth to encourage generosity across the province, bringing about lasting change in their communities. GivingTuesday provides an opportunity for people to donate their time, money and talents to address local challenges.
